A nine mile walk, taking in Burntwood, Glasshouses, Fairoak, Broughton, Ashley then back to Loggerheads. Varied walk over fields, footpaths, tracks, and country roads, maybe muddy in places, gaiters recommend. Due to COVID-19, we all need to take extra steps to stay safe. Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SK011432. Parking is at the Well Street carpark in Cheadle. Parking is free on Sundays and bank holidays. Nearest postcode ST10 1ET
Starting from the centre of Cheadle, we make our way along the high street, past the Cemetary and out into the countryside. We follow fields,farm tracks and country lanes, through to Dairy house farm, up to Banktop and then on to Dilhorne Park Station where we may have lunch. We then cross Cartwright's Drumble before heading back across more fields and farm tracks, onto Adderley and then back to Cheadle. Lunch required.

Sunday, 9th May 2021   SALT    8 miles  5 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ958277. meet at ST18 0BX, the car park of the closed Hollybush Inn, Willowmore Banks, main road in Salt.
Starting from the attractive village of Salt, we will cross the Trent and Mersey Canal to explore the woods and fields of Sandon Park, the seat of the Earl of Harrowby. We will then visit Sandon Lock and walk along the canal towards the pretty hamlet of Burston before returning to Salt along quiet tracks and lanes. A generally flat route with one gentle climb which is rewarded with fantastic views of the Staffordshire countryside. Lunch required.

Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ979191. Park at Coppice Hill Car Park Brocton. Turn right at the village green and then left up hill. After around half a mile bear left along a lane and continue to the parking area at the end.
A historic walk taking in the war cemeteries and other memorials. Generally on good paths with a little climbing in parts but not too demanding. Will also be a cafe stop at Springslade Lodge. Lunch required.

Starting from the car park, we will head off in the direction of Bickerton, picking up the Sandstone Trail and onto The Orchard, Maiden Castle, Mad Allen's Hole, Bickerton and Buckeley Hill, then down into Bulkeley, before heading back to the car park. Depending on restrictions potential pub stop half way round. Lunch required.

Sunday, 6th June 2021   HARTINGTON ***WALK NOW FULL**    8 miles  5 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SK127604. Some parking spaces but limited, so on road parking is likely. Meet by the duck pond, outside the cheese shop (you can't miss it!).
An 8 mile circular walk from Hartington, taking in a mixture of open countryside, wooded paths and Beresford and Wolfscote Dales. There are a couple of steep climbs, and a very steep descent, although the stunning views are worth the effort. Survivors are welcome to treat the walk leaders to a well-earned pint at The Devonshire Arms at the end of the walk. Numbers limited to 15 for this walk. Lunch required.

Staring fron Longnor we will follow the Manfold Trail toward Brund, then onto Sheen.After lunch onto Pilsbury and then Crowdicote, and back to Longnor. Route is mainly on countryside tracks and paths. Potential pub stop in Crowdicote if not to crowdi. Suntan lotion, rain coat, sunhat, gaiters advised as you never know. Lunch required.

Sunday, 4th July 2021   **WALK CANCELLED **THE LONG MYND CIRCULAR    12 miles  6 hrs   Grade 3
Start Time: 9:00am    Grid Ref: SO444918. Go south of Shrewsbury on the A49 past Church Stretton main crossroads and after 1.5 miles take a right turn over the Weak Bridge to Little Stretton. Take the first left and park by the front wall of the church. Room for 4-5 cars some further parking at SO442919. Please car share and max 12 walkers.
From Little Stretton we go up Ashes Hollow, call in on Pole Bank viewpoint, then follow the Shropshire Way northeast. A ring to Upper Darnford then back along Haddon Hill dropping via woods west of Church Stretton to the cars. Lunch required.

Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ754212. Parking is at The Swan Pub in Forton, nearest postcode TF10 8BY. Please park considerately, by back wall away from entrance.
10 mile fairly flat walk, starting from the pub we will head towards Aqualate, Norbury, onto London Moss Nature Reserve, Loyton, Weston Jones and then back to Forton. At the end of the walk please show your appreciation for use of car park by calling into the The Swan (Joules Brewery Pub) for a pint or half. Walk will be limited to 15 people Lunch required.

Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ960581. Car park at the site of the Rudyard mini railway ofF the B5331 Leek to Macclesfield Road. It us signposted.
A not too difficult walk taking in the village of Horton and then the Staffordshire Way through Redcliffe Wood to the northern point of the lake returning along the water's edge path. There will be a cafe and toilet stop. Lunch required.

Sunday, 1st August 2021   LATHKILL DALE AND MONYASH    10 miles  5 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SK149665. Some on road parking available in Monyash. Meet by St. Leonard's church in Monyash.
A 10.5 mile circular walk taking in part of the Limestone Way, Over Haddon and Lathkill Dale. A couple of steep climbs will add to the challenge: the first offering spectacular views into Lathkill Dale, the second offering the promise of a pint at the Lathkill Hotel. Lunch with a view is followed by 3.5 miles alongside the river back towards Monyash. Numbers limited to 15 for this walk. Lunch required.

From the car park we will head out along the canal path in the direction of Wheelock. Walk will be over varied terrain, footpaths, tracks, canal paths and country roads. Hopefully with a pub stop at just under half way. p.s. its a reccie so route may be subject to change Lunch required.

Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SK062239. Meet at the aptly names Watery Lane Car Park, Abbots Bromley, WS15 3DX, by the B5013 on the northern shore of Blithfield Reservoir.
A relaxed walk around the southern half of Blithfield Reservoir. This route also includes the pretty villages of Abbots Bromley and Stockton Heath using lanes, tracks and footpaths. Come along and enjoy lots of panoramic views of the lake and the rolling hills of the Blithe Valley. Generally flat. Cafe, shop and toilet stop. Lunch required.

A fairly flat walk starting from Calverhall heading in the direction of Willaston, then onto Sandford and Darliston. Following lunch will then head to Bletchley with a pub stop at The Castle, after which we will head cross country back to Calverhall. Walk is a mixture of country roads, paths and tracks. Lunch required.

Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ936623. Parking is at the Old Station car park behind The Knot Inn pub at Rushton Spencer. Nearest PostCode SK11 0QU
Starting at the Staffordshire countryside old station car park behind The Knot Inn pub at Rushton Spencer, the walk rises to the neolithic tomb of Bridestones, before reaching Bosley Cloud with 360 views. Route then descends into the River Danes wooded valley taking in a reedy canal and farm lanes back to Rushton's tempting village pubs. Field, woodland and hill paths, back lanes. One stretch busier road. Lunch required.

Sunday, 26th September 2021   DOWNS BANKS AND BARLASTON BIMBLE    9 miles  5 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ900365. Parking is at Downs Bank car park (past the Ford, ST15 8UU)
From the car park we will ascend to the millennium viewpoint with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. We will then descend to Barlaston, passing Barlaston Hall on the way to the Wedgewood estate. After walking through Hem Heath Woods we will turn back on ourselves and walk alongside the Trent and Mersey Canal all the way to The Plume of Feathers for a well deserved pint (or 2). We will then weave our way back to to Downs Banks. Bring packed lunch as we'll be eating en route. Lunch required.

Sunday, 10th October 2021   TRENTHAM BIMBLE    9 miles  5 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ868408. Meet at the entrance of Trentham (Blue Diamond) garden centre. There are toilets by the entrance to Trentham gardens.
This walk has its ups and downs, with perhaps ( if we are lucky) a little monkey business along the way. We will make our way through Trentham park and enjoy the autumn colours in Kings wood. Crossing the river that gives Trentham its name, we will rest at the Pub and then make our way up to Barlaston Hall. A gentle walk along the canal will bring us back to Trentham, ending our gentle stroll of Autumn colours. Lunch required.

Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SK103398. Meet 10am at JCB Springfields Car Park, off the B5031, ST14 5JR Rocester. If you reach JCB Global Learning, you have gone too far. Springfields carpark is on the left hand side and does not have any barriers on.
A pleasant potter valley along the Churnet Way to the Alton, Denstone College and JCB Lakes. Generally flat and hopefully not too muddy given the time of year. Refreshment stop towards the end at Denstone Farm Shop. Hope you can make it. Lunch required.

Sunday, 24th October 2021   BRINGING LYME PARK TO THE MILLENNIUM    11 miles  5 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ986857. We start this walk at Hague Bar Car Park, New Mills, postcode SK22 3AS
From the car park we head down to the canal then onto the Gristone Trail heading to Lyme Park, we stop here for lunch and a snugburys ice cream if you want to get one. From there we continue along the Gristone Trail taking in the spectacular views along the way before we head back down towards Disley. We then have a cheeky pint in the Pride of the Peaks, then we head towards the millennium bridge and look at the old ruins of a once thriving industry. We then head back to the cars. This is an undulating walk with a few steady hills. Lunch required.

A pleasant ramble through the Peak District countryside. From Alstonefield we head to Stanshope before our gentle descent to Dove Dale. We walk along the river to the lovely village of Milldale. We continue alongside the river dove and through Wolfscote Dale before making our return to Alstonefield. Dont forget the clocks go back.. Lunch required.

A steady 8 miler circular walk from Milwich, taking in muddy fields, slippery stiles and random wildlife. Leaving Milwich we cross numerous fields before reaching the landscaped parkland surrounding Sandon Hall. We then skirt past Gayton before returning to Milwich, conveniently passing through the beer garden of The Green Man pub en route. Lunch required.

From Meerbook, clockwise including round Tittesworth Reservoir then up Gun Hill (385m) hopefully with views including The Roaches & Hen Cloud. Winter is coming and there will be mud! ...and stiles. Modest ~650 feet of ascent. Afterwards The Lazy Trout is very close by. Lunch required.

This route begins from the Derbyshire Bridge car park, takes you through the Goyt Valley before hiking up to Pym chair. From Pym chair, you then follow the ridge up and over Cats Tor then on to Shining Tor in the distance, before calling in at the Cat and Fiddle, on our way back to the car park. Lunch required.

A walk taking in Offa's Dyke panorama path on the way to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct - a marvel of civil engineering that continues to amaze with its dizzying feat of carrying a canal high over a river, after which we will follow the canal towpath on the way back. Lunch required.

Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SK052446. In Cheadle turn into Queen Street by The Alton Castle pub, and follow the B5417 towards Oakamoor. Coming down Church Bank into Oakamoor turn right into Mill Road, the Car Park is on the left
Our Christmas route changes again this year and this time will take us from Oakamoor onto The Ranger, Fairies, Threap Wood, Santa Hats, Great Gate, Fairy Lights, Croxden, Mince Pies, Alton (Pub Stop), Full Bodied Sherry, Threapwood, Mulled Wine, Churnet Valley and back to Oakamoor. Gaiters and Christmas hats advised Lunch required.

Points to Remember:
1. Please call the walk leader before the walk in case any details have changed.
2. Make sure that you are suitably dressed for the weather. Remember that some walks are on exposed high land and the weather can be cold and wet. Denim jeans are not suitable for high-level walks.
3. Dogs are welcome but only with the prior agreement of the walk leader
4. If the walk leader decides to shorten the walk then that decision is final and is not open to negotiation. The leader will only do this when there is a good reason for doing so.
5. Even if a walk does not state packed lunch, it is always advisable to bring something to eat and drink.
6. If transport is shared, please provide the driver with a share of the fuel costs.
7. Non RA members are welcome to join us for 3 walks before being asked to join the RA. There are no exceptions to this.
8. Regrettably, due to the nature of the Sunday programme, we are unable to accept children on our these walks.
9. Children are welcome on Family Friendly walks.
