Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ980176.
Starts from Chase Rd corner car park; from Stafford take A513 to Milford and turn right along Brocton Road. Travel for 1 mile and turn left into Chase Road and travel along road for approx. 1.5 miles over humps until car park on the left where the road bends towards the west.
A nice relaxing walk for the start of 2020 with 3 cafe stops. Going via Sherbrook Valley, Birches Valley Visitor Centre, Cannock Chase, and Springslade Lodge, before heading back to the car park.

Sunday, 12th January 2020   CHILLINGTON HALL & SHROPSHIRE UNION CANAL FROM BREWOOD    8 miles  4 hrs   Grade 1
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ882075. The start is a small free car park located on Park Lane to the south of Brewood. Turn off Port Lane opposite a Bridleway into Park Lane, nearest postcode WV9 5BJ, car park is located on the left, car sharing advised.
A relaxed walk along flat, easy going terrain, following bridleways, footpaths and towpaths (which may be muddy) to explore this part of South Staffordshire, with views of Chillington Hall and most pleasing countryside. Pub stop in Brewood towards the end of the walk! Lunch required.

Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ851125. The walk starts from the free car park opposite the village hall in Wheaton Aston, nearest postcode ST19 9NG, car sharing advised.
An easy jaunt across flat farmland, passing through the beautiful splendor of Lapley village and rolling fields with some poly-tunnels, before finishing along the historic 'Shroppie' canal and a chance for a tipple in The Hartley Arms at the end, easy going but muddy in places! Lunch required.

Sunday, 26th January 2020   DOVEDALE AND TISSINGTON    8 miles  5 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:30am    Grid Ref: SK163504. We start the walk from Narlow Lane Car Park which can be found at the outskirts of Thorpe opposite The Old Dog pub.
A picturesque walk starting on the outskirts of Thorpe with stunning views of Thorpe Cloud and sight of the famous Dovedale stepping stones. A pleasant walk alongside the river before a steady climb out of the valley and across farmland. We pass through the beautiful village of Tissington before walking back to Thorpe along the Tissington trail. Gaiters advised. Please note this walk will start at the slightly later time of 10:30. Lunch required.

Sunday, 2nd February 2020   RUDYARD (SUITABLE FOR NEW STARTERS)    5 miles  3 hrs   Grade 1
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ955579. From Leek follow the A523 Macclesfield Road and after about a mile take the B5331 to Rudyard. The car park entrance is on the left immediately after passing under the rail bridge. Parking is free on Sundays. Nearest postcode ST13 8PF
This is a short gentle work suitable for those who want an introduction to walking or those who just prefer a shorter walk. We will walk from the miniature railway car park and will take in the lake and surrounding area which has a diverse variety of wildlife and wild flowers.

Saturday, 8th February 2020   *** CHANGED TO SATURDAY *** HOPE AND CASTLETON    10 miles  6 hrs   Grade 3
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SK171837. *** Due to the Weather Warning forecast for Sunday, this walk has been rescheduled to Saturday! ***
We'll meet in Hope and park on the road by the Primary School.
On the main road through Hope, turn by The Old Hall Hotel (opposite the Church), the school is a little further on, on the left.

Our route will take us up to Lose Hill, we'll then follow the ridge along to Hollins Cross and on to Mam Tor.
Descending via Windy Knoll we'll join the Limestone Way to enter Castleton behind Peveril Castle.
We leave Castleton to wander by Peakshole Water which will bring us back to Hope.
It's bound to muddy in places, so bring your gaiters. Lunch required.

A 8-9 mile reccie, starting from the pub car park and hopefully finishing at the car park!! There will be a stop for refreshments 'en route', at the Peel Arms in the village of Ashley. I will be bringing a few copies of the route, so anyone who wishes to have a go at navigating between points, they are more than welcome to do so. Lunch required.

Sunday, 23rd February 2020   WARSLOW    8 miles  5 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SK085587. Turn off A523 at Bottomhouse onto B5053 signed for Longnor. Continue on this road through Onecote and then onto Warslow, turn left into Leek Road and after a short distance is the Greyhound Inn carpark
We head up to Revidge and Reapsmoor before heading to Brund and Sheen. Dropping down to Hulme End (if open a stop in the Tea Junction cafe). After a short stretch on the Manifold track we climb back up to Warslow. Ending with a drink at the Greyhound Inn. Muddy in places so gaiters advised. Lunch required.

Sunday, 1st March 2020   THE LAWLEY & CAER CARADOC    11 miles  6 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SO505991. Take the A49 south from Shrewsbury. Turn left signposted Longnor, bear right in the village and follow road going straight on at the crossroads signposted to Lawley. There are spaces for 6-7 cars only so sharing advised.
We will reprise last April's walk traversing The Lawley and Caer Caradoc but with options through the fields and tracks on the return leg. Likely to be muddy sections so gaiters advised. Lunch required.

Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ772451. Parking is at the Madeley Centre, New Road, Madeley. Nearest Postcode : CW3 9DN. Permission has been given to park at the rear of the building as the cafe is open on sundays and consideration for parking must given to residents & visitors of Lea Court
An 8 mile reccie from the Madeley Centre taking in Wrinehill Hall, Ravenshall, Betely (pub stop), Bowseywood and Madely Manor. The walk will mainly be on footpaths and farm tracks therefore maybe muddy in places. Lunch required.

Free parking at Milwich Village Hall, an old school opposite the Green Man pub, postcode ST18 0EG.
Heading down from Milwich, we stroll down to Beacon Bank and onwards to Sandon Wood. We then head up through Small rice to Dayhills, over towards Hilderstone, before returning Milwich via Garshall Green and Wheatlow Brook. Back in Milwich we can find some refreshment at the Green Man Pub. Lunch required.

Saturday, 15th August 2020   CANNOCK CHASE CIRCULAR NEW STARTER INTRO WALK    8 miles  4 hrs   Grade 1
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ979181. From Brocton Village turn at the green and head up ChaseRoax. Park at the Glacial Boulder car park after approx 1 mile.
This walk is suitable for those who want an introduction to walking before trying anything more challenging. The walk covers a large area of Cannock Chase ANOB. The walk begins at the Glacial Boulder and continues to Brindley Heath before crossing over the quarry to the Sherbrook Valley. Three will be a lunch stop at Birches Valley. The walk is generally on good paths but may be muddy in places depending on weather. Places limited to 12 people so please advise in comments if you wish to attend.

Sunday, 23rd August 2020   HASLINGTON    8 miles  5 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ738559. Start point is the main free carpark located on Waterloo Road, Haslington, CW15TW. Turn opposite the Broughton Arms, the car park is by the British Red Cross building. Nearest postcode CW1 5TW
From the center of Haslington we will head out in the direction of Hassall, through Haslington Hall following varied terrain, including farmland, bridleways, country roads, and woodland paths. After Hassall, we will head towards the outskirts of Alsager, before heading back via Oakhanger Moss and Slaughter Hill. This is a fairly flat walk and would be suitable for new walkers.
Due to COVID-19, we all need to take extra steps to stay safe. Please follow all safety advice given by the walk leader.

An 8 mile walk over varied terrain, starting at the car park heading in the direction of Whinstonbrook, onto Kingsley Holt, Kingsley, Cherryeye Bridge, Ipstones and Foxt. With a possible pub stop at either Ipstones or Foxt. May be muddy in places.

From the carpark we will make our way around Knypersley Reservoir then head off on the direction of Rock End, Wicken Stones, Crowborough, Ladymoor Gate, Marshes Hill and back to the reservoir. Walk goes along paths, tracks, fields and country lanes. Depending on weather may be muudy in places Lunch required.

Sunday, 20th December 2020   CHRISTMAS CLUB CONSTITUTION    12 miles  6 hrs   Grade 2
Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SJ815479. Meet in the upper Black Bank Car Park on the Knutton/Alsagers Bank road, B5367. Next car park up from the Wind Turbines. Nearest PostCode (Not exact) ST5 6AX. Do NOT go to the main Apedale Visitor Centre Car Park
A day exploring lots of the areas industrial heritage we follow paths, old railway lines and mine tracks. From Apedale we follow the old Colliery line before heading off to skirt Red Street on our way to the Wedgewood Memorial with views across the Cheshire Plains. From here we pick up the old North Staffordshire Railway route through Bignall end, on to Alsagers Bank. Onwards through Bateswood Nature Reserve and Silverdale Countrypark before returning to Apedale. Tracks and paths mostly. A few field sections, probably muddy. A few hilly sections but nowt too challenging. Lunch required.

Points to Remember:
1. Please call the walk leader before the walk in case any details have changed.
2. Make sure that you are suitably dressed for the weather. Remember that some walks are on exposed high land and the weather can be cold and wet. Denim jeans are not suitable for high-level walks.
3. Dogs are welcome but only with the prior agreement of the walk leader
4. If the walk leader decides to shorten the walk then that decision is final and is not open to negotiation. The leader will only do this when there is a good reason for doing so.
5. Even if a walk does not state packed lunch, it is always advisable to bring something to eat and drink.
6. If transport is shared, please provide the driver with a share of the fuel costs.
7. Non RA members are welcome to join us for 3 walks before being asked to join the RA. There are no exceptions to this.
8. Regrettably, due to the nature of the Sunday programme, we are unable to accept children on our these walks.
9. Children are welcome on Family Friendly walks.
