Start Time: 10:00am    Grid Ref: SK231814. Meet at the car park on Oddfellows Road, Hathersage. Postcode S32 1DD. Some free roadside parking is also available, although it does tend to get very busy.
A Saturday walk!! A very challenging 18 mile walk based in the Peak District. For those who completed this walk last year we will walk the route in reverse this year, starting in Hathersage and then taking climbs up to Stanage Edge, Bamford Edge and Win Hill, offering amazing views across the Hope Valley and Ladybower Reservoir. The tough climbs and 18 mile distance make this a grade 3 walk, which needs to be covered at a good pace to ensure it is completed in time. Following the walk we have the choice of eating at either The Yorkshire Bridge in Bamford where the walk finishes, or Maazi in Hathersage, following a 4 minute train journey back to the cars. I'll also be leading a 9-10 mile walk for the group the following day on Sunday, over similar but different terrain for anyone who plans to stay overnight. The nearby Hardhurst Farm offers camping facilities where we have stayed before. Lunch required.

An exposed paved path takes us past amazing gritstone rock formations with bizarre names such as the Salt cellar, Coach and horses and Cakes of bread. We'll then descend to Grindle Clough and the shore of Ladybower reservoir, passing the 'drowned' villages of Ashopton and Derwent, before heading back towards the cars. A well-earned, cheeky post-walk pint can be enjoyed at The Yorkshire Bridge, just 2 miles away on the journey home. Lunch required.
